Jim Upston farmed at Dunsandel; but worked in the late 60's in Australia at BHP, on cotton farms, and managing a Bellata wheat farm, before joining BP Oil in Wellington. He returned to farm in Brookside for 15 years, and was a freelance journalist before moving to the city in 1985. After selling real estate and vehicles, he joined Avis Lease in 1989, and in early 1990 was appointed Southern Regional Manager. In 1994 he established VPB Auctions, and has since evolved the business into the auctioneering, valuation, and brokerage entity it is today. |

Gerald Lemon has a strong auctioneering background, starting with NZ Farmers' Coop Ltd, before similar roles with Wrightsons' and Elders. He then spent ten years running his own livestock trading operation. In recent years his ability has frequently been on display calling highly specialised equipment, general equipment, and other auctions AVB Group conducts for its Clients. Gerald is also skilled in farm clearing sales, and estate clearances, and his strong voice, keen eye, and cheerful personality, are a boon to both Vendors and Bidders. |

Sue Upston, a teacher by profession, also has a strong support role with AVB Group's auction service. Also blessed with great interpersonal skills, Sue handles Bidder registrations, is an able computer support operator, handles cash transactions, reconciles completed Auction Clerk sheets, and works closely assisting Debbie to ensure office procedures run smoothly. |
